There’s a story behind this picture…
I bumped into comedian Charlie Berens at a Milwaukee Brewers game in September 2021. Charlie was incredibly gracious—and willing to do a selfie with a goofy fan like me.
But behind my smile—I was a five-alarm dumpster fire.
It had been seven months since the day I nearly died on my kitchen floor. Most days were filled with fear, anxiety, nightmares, and more. It would be more than a month before I would be diagnosed with PTSD and several more years before I felt anything close to normal—whatever normal was supposed to be.
One of the biggest breakthroughs on my recovery journey was discovering that I wasn’t alone. I learned that it’s not unusual for people to feel burnt out, broken, and alone. In fact, it happens all of the time.
Sometimes the trigger is a traumatic life event. But more often than not, the cause is death by a thousand paper cuts. It’s one thing after another thing. And then another thing. And then another thing.
I was struggling with a combination of the two—trauma and paper cuts. And I felt trapped deep in a hole with no way out.
Maybe you can relate?
Here’s why being trapped in a hole is such a tragedy. It isn’t just because good people suffer. It’s because the collective cost of being trapped in a hole can be staggering. Sure, being trapped impacts you, your family, and your finances. But it also affects your work, your community, the people you love, and everyone who depends on you.
And that’s not all. When service-minded people are trapped in a hole, it negatively impacts businesses, schools, service organizations, ministries, and more.
I want to help change that.
I don’t have all the answers. But I do have a treasure chest of experiences. And I want to share what I’ve learned with you.
That’s why I wrote LIVE AGAIN! THE ROAD BACK FROM BURNOUT, BROKENNESS, AND THE BATTLES NO ONE SEES.
You are here to make a difference.
You are the answer to someone else’s prayers.
You are a gift to the people around you. But if you don’t take care of yourself, you take that gift away.
It’s time for you to LIVE AGAIN!
Even if you’re not trapped in a hole right now, I’m guessing you know someone else who is.
